My New Fun Design!

I had to make something new and different on my Thanksgiving holiday, and this is what I came up with!
I wanted to break away from my standard style house Wedding Card Box Birdhouses and make one more whimsical and unusual.

I made with a curved roof .
And I carved a stone chimney!
And I wood burned the tree! I burn the Bride and Groom's initial in the heart!
This one shows it with  red shutters.

I put the little sign over the door with the name and established date hand lettered!

The back opens with little leather hinges to access the cards and to use as a Keepsake Box after the wedding

I'm working on some custom orders now that I'll add later...a sort of Gingerbread style house and a Barn! Can't wait to get them done!

Weddings!

                                                           Dale and Jennifer Beers
This is our Wedding Picture 12 years ago, July 27, 2000! It was a wonderful day and we are still very happily married! We met (of all things) on the internet! (We had both been divorced several years and we were both on a free trial of Christian Matchmaker.com.) We emailed each other for about 3 weeks, then met in a coffee shop, and 5 months later we were married! God works in mysterious ways! We have 5 children between us (I had 3 and he had 2) and 5 grandchildren!
We had a lot of great help arranging our wedding, and really did it on a shoestring. Some friends from my Church decorated the place and made all my flower arrangements! We found long stemmed red roses at a supermarket floral shop for $4.99 a dozen to make bouquets and corsages and boutonnieres! That was amazing even 12 years ago! Did any of you get any great bargains for your wedding?
I am so enjoying making my Wedding Card Box Birdhouses for Weddings! It is such a pleasure to work with Brides to have a small part in their plans for their special day!

This was a custom order. They asked if I could make my Heart Birdhouse larger.

This one was for a Halloween Wedding. I have a couple of challenging custom requests coming up!
Etsy has lots of great Wedding Item sellers and now they have added a Weddings Category...http://www.etsy.com/weddings?ref=wd_hp_promo_lnk
And a Wedding Registry! ...http://www.etsy.com/registry

Another sweet custom order I made was this Miniature Up Themed House. It's about 10" tall! A fellow ordered it as a box to present his fiancees engagement ring inside! You can see the progress of making this on my Facebook... https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.10150918732103505.419998.316454328504&type=3    While you're there you can "Like" me! It makes my day!

My Latest Project...Sometimes I Surprise Myself!

Since I've been making Wedding Card Houses, I got a request to make one for a  Up Themed wedding. It was a few months ago and since the Bride didn't want it in a hurry, I took my time making it, working on it  between other orders. Really I was dragging my heels because I was not looking forward to figuring out how to put the two roofs together. I make my own patterns and I'm totally self taught in my woodworking. I have acquired all  of my workshop tools over the years and enjoy learning to use them. I'm sure I still have a lot to learn. Here are a few pictures of the progress. First I did a few sketches.
Then I made the two sides...

And made porch posts...
Some of my pictures are a bit blurry and I'm having a hard time getting my pictures lined up  tonight, and don't seem to be able to add text below. I think I have a lot to learn about blogger too! Tomorrow is another day!
And I did get the roof!

Both roofs are hinged! This was a fun project! : )
This one is on it's way to California, but I relisted it in my etsy shop here!
